Julien Fournié has designed a series of four pieces of jewelry for the First Creatures collection, including the spectacular tiara and harness worn by the “Dark Mermaid”.
Julien Fournié asked Adrian Colin to bring this line of blown glass jewelry to life.
Adrian Colin is Meilleur Ouvrier de France 2011 and Deputy Director of the MOF crafts commission. He is a glassblower in Dinan. He executes his works based on glass rods and tubes that are fused.
The jewels, made from Julien Fournié’s drawings, which adorn this “Dark Mermaid” took Adrian Colin four months of work.
Nearly three hundred patterns were flame-worked to combine the black crystal and translucent glass to achieve the exact shades. The harness of countless black crystal beads will serve as a showcase for the precious glass patterns.
Four Jewels
The four jewels have been inspired by this Dark Mermaid. Each of them is handmade. The shape is given by the breath for the hollow pieces, by the gesture for the massive pieces, the flame is used to combine the black crystal and the translucent glass and obtain the exact shades.
Each object is unique.
