Transforming, innovating, unraveling mysteries, finding the right proportions-that’s what Haute Couture is all about. And that’s what fittings are for.
Camille Tanne, this season’s newcomer, has delicious copper legs that we just want to show off.
The Haute Couture dress she’s to present in a few days’ time, for the Haute Couture First Shield show, imagined ankle-length, in Laser Game green lurex changing to purple, like Kryptonite, Superman’s mortal danger, is in fact a trompe-l’oeil with a chasuble parachute dress over it in double Purple silk organza.
This umbrella-cut parachute Haute Couture dress elongates the silhouette with its half-round skittles. On paper, this dress looked sublime when I designed it. In reality, this length is absolutely unflattering in these lines. During fittings, it just doesn’t work!
Crisis cell in the atelier. It’s always tricky to explain to a team, who have finalized a dress strictly according to my instructions, that the result isn’t up to my dreams.
But my team is also very critical. Everyone agrees that the length isn’t right. It’s too long,” I conclude. So we cut below the knee.
This time, everything falls into place. The words come thick and fast: “baby doll”, “porcelain doll”, “little ballerina”, “prima ballerina”, a very Parisian Haute Couture dress indeed. The body-hugging cut reveals an organic volume that moves perfectly.
The snap hooks that suspend the dress, along with the Kryptonite Premier Bag worn cross-body, add contemporary flair to this silhouette.

A youthful haute couture dress

Make-up by Nicolas Degennes loads her cat eyes with mascara, and her red mouth is the perfect complement to her veil dress.
