Halloween Chic 2026: 5 Haute Couture Looks and 4 Bags from Julien Fournié

Kraken haute couture dress with three-dimensional jet tentacle embroidery on nude tulle, First Misfits collection by Julien Fournié

This Halloween falls on a Saturday, and it deserves better than a costume. Here are five looks from First Misfits, the Spring–Summer 2026 collection by Maison Julien Fournié, shown at the Salle Gaveau in Paris on 27 January 2026. A sea monster, a punk ghost, a haunted chandelier, a blood-spattered tuxedo and a masked rabbit: every one of them is hand-embroidered, and none of them is a disguise. To carry with them, four bags from the Maison, from €385 to €4,990.

First Misfits borrows from street art, manga and genre films rather than from the Second Empire. Its heroes are “bad boys with subverted codes” and “whimsical princesses with bewitching elegance”. In other words, the perfect cast for 31 October.

Last year we chose four creations from First Circus, from the Bloody Mary gown to the Wicked Witch of the West. This year the darkness is subtler, and more embroidered.

Halloween Chic 1: The Kraken Dress (look 26)

Kraken sheath dress in nude tulle and black grain de poudre wool with jet tentacle embroidery on the First Misfits runway

A sheath dress with a nude tulle bodice and a skirt in black grain de poudre wool, seized by tentacles embroidered in three dimensions from jet stone. On the hip, one pale point: the eye of the Kraken, which never sleeps.

The embroidery house Amman slipped padded cores inside certain tentacles so they lift off the fabric and move as the wearer walks. Four and a half months of work, worn on the runway by Alex Mart. Jet was the stone of Victorian mourning, long believed to absorb bad energy: the monster here is also an armour.

Halloween Chic 2: The Ghost Dress (look 18)

Asymmetrical black wool ghost dress with crystals and lace inlays embroidered with lightning bolts, First Misfits runway

An asymmetrical mid-calf dress in black wool, weighted with crystals and cut with a mystery slit. Lace inlays are embroidered with lightning bolts, gunpowder nebulae and shards, as if the dress had come through a storm.

On the head, a punk crest of black feathers with a night-lightning effect. The ghost is not white and floating: it is black, electric, and very much awake.

Halloween Chic 3: Shadows Chandelier (look 23)

Gold satin mini dress embroidered with a broken chandelier under a smoky black silk tulle dress, Shadows Chandelier look

The haunted house in two layers. Beneath, a mini dress in gold technical satin embroidered with a ghostly, broken chandelier. Above, a smoky dress in black silk tulle with multiple inlays, embroidered with constellations and nebulae.

The gold shows only through the smoke. It is the ballroom after the last guest has left, when the candles are still burning and nobody knows who lit them.

Halloween Chic 4: The Blood-Splattered Jacket (look 19)

Black grain de poudre double-breasted jacket spattered with embroidered blood and fuchsia crystals, raspberry silk satin pants

The heir to last year’s Bloody Mary. A double-breasted zipped jacket in black grain de poudre wool, embroidered with fuchsia crystals and spattered with embroidered blood. With it, the Signature unisex belted pants in raspberry silk satin, and a Pluton clutch in black grained leather with a gunmetal logo.

The jacket is unisex, like most of the Maison’s tailoring: it works for women and men alike. Gore, but tailored.

Halloween Chic 5: The Rabbit, Masquerade Version (look 28)

Masked Rabbit in a black grain de poudre double-breasted tuxedo with Darktifice fire embroidery, First Misfits runway

“Follow the White Rabbit”: the Rabbit returns, masked. A Signature double-breasted tuxedo in black grain de poudre wool, lit with Darktifice fire embroidery, over the Signature unisex belted pants in the same wool.

This is the look Julien Fournié reworked for the Chinese singer Joker Xue (薛之谦) on his King of Beasts Tour, styled with the Goldie jewel belt. Proof that a Halloween tuxedo can also fill a stadium.

The bag of the pirates. Wearing Haute Couture for Halloween

None of these pieces is sold off the peg. Each is made to measure in the Maison’s Paris atelier, for one person, by appointment. The runway look is a starting point: the colour, the embroidery and the cut are adjusted with the client, fitting after fitting.

The bags, on the other hand, are ready to carry: the four pieces above are in stock, with free delivery. The embroidered codes of the runway continue across the Premier handbags, whose Haute Couture versions are each a unique piece.

Halloween Haute Couture: your questions

Which Julien Fournié looks suit Halloween 2026?

Five looks from the First Misfits Spring–Summer 2026 collection: the Kraken dress (look 26), the Ghost dress (look 18), Shadows Chandelier (look 23), the blood-spattered tuxedo jacket (look 19) and the Rabbit in its Masquerade version (look 28).

Is haute couture appropriate for a Halloween party?

Yes, when the theme is carried by the craft rather than by a costume. These looks evoke a sea monster, a ghost or a haunted ballroom through embroidery, jet and crystal, so they read as evening wear first.

Can I order one of these looks?

Each runway look can be recreated to measure for one client, by appointment at the Maison in Paris. Colour, embroidery and cut are adjusted over several fittings.

Who embroidered the First Misfits collection?

The embroidery house Amman, led by Amman Shaikh, who reworks ancestral Indian techniques in coloured crystal. The Kraken dress alone took two months of embroidery.

Are these looks for women only?

No. The tailoring of First Misfits is largely unisex: the blood-spattered jacket and the Rabbit tuxedo are cut to be worn by women and men alike.

What is Maison Julien Fournié?

A Paris haute couture house founded in 2009, holder of the officially protected Haute Couture designation since 2017 — a label granted by the French Ministry of Industry on the advice of the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode to around a dozen houses worldwide.

Which Julien Fournié bags go with a Halloween look?

Four pieces in stock: the Pirate Premier handbag, a unique piece embroidered with the First Misfits tattoo (€4,990); the Elphalba Premier handbag in emerald satin leather (€2,945); the Bloody Mary Big Bang Go handbag in ruby leather (€1,990); and the Dark Blood Pluton clutch with blood-red reflections (€385).
