From menswear to Le Smoking: a Parisian couture signature<\/h2>\nThe tuxedo began as menswear, and it was in Paris – with Yves Saint Laurent’s Le Smoking<\/em> in 1966 – that it became one of the defining gestures of women’s haute couture. Julien Fourni\u00e9 works both sides of that story: sharply tailored tuxedos and jackets cut for women, and, today, couture tailoring worn by men on the runway and the red carpet. Season after season, the codes of the smoking jacket are reworked across collections such as First Circus, First Shield, First Squad and Last Queen.\n

Made to measure in our Paris atelier<\/h2>\nEvery commission begins with a conversation. Together with the client, Julien Fourni\u00e9 defines the tuxedo or jacket she has in mind and presents a series of sketches so she can settle on the final design. The cut is then adapted precisely to her figure and her wishes – a sleeve reshaped, the lapels of the jacket redrawn, the line of the shoulders softened or squared. The client chooses the fabric – a cloth can even be woven especially for her model – and, where the design calls for it, the embroidery. From the first sketch to the final fitting, the piece is built by hand in the atelier.\n

One client, never made twice<\/h2>\nA tuxedo or jacket shown during the collections can be made exactly as presented, or used as the starting point for an entirely new model: a different fabric or colour, a fresh embroidery motif, a reworked volume. What never changes is the principle – the House makes each haute couture tuxedo only once. When you wear a Julien Fourni\u00e9 tuxedo, no one else in the world owns the same piece.\n

For weddings, ceremonies and the red carpet<\/h2>\nA couture tuxedo is an assured alternative to the evening gown – for a gala, a black-tie evening, a red carpet or a wedding, worn by the bride or a guest. The same made-to-measure process is open to men – for a tuxedo, a suit or ceremonial dress – and to couples who want their looks designed together. Julien Fourni\u00e9 also creates pieces ex nihilo<\/em> for a specific occasion.\n

On the runway and the red carpet<\/h2>\nJulien Fourni\u00e9’s tuxedos and jackets are worn far beyond the salon. In recent seasons they have appeared on runways, magazine covers and red carpets across Asia and Europe – worn by men as much as by women. About the Maison Julien Fourni\u00e9<\/h2>\nJulien Fourni\u00e9 is a Parisien Haute Couture house<\/a>, awarded the official Haute Couture appellation by the F\u00e9d\u00e9ration de la Haute Couture et de la Mode in 2017.
